Bassmaster Legends Major

I missed the money (25th place) by 7 ounces. I did catch a lot of fish, but keepers were tough to come by. I caught 30 to 40 short ones a day, easily.

I did run into one school of 3-pounders, and I missed three of them all on the same cast. I was making long casts with a Lucky Craft Gunfish (popper) and I had one take it, and it got off, and then another one took it, and it got off, and that one came back and took it again and got off.

I also had another 3-pounder that jumped and came off right at the boat. I had my chances, but I wasn't effective at boating them.

I caught a lot of fish with a Skinny Senko on a shakey-head. You catch so many that you think you're going to get a good one, but you never do.

I've caught a lot of little fish, but it's been difficult for me to catch keepers. I've caught a couple each day, mostly spots, so I'll probably key on them. You catch a largemouth every now and then, but it's usually a 14 1/2-incher.

I'm throwing a Rico in the morning, and I'm also doing a little dropshotting. I don't have a lot of knowledge of the backwaters and the brushpiles, so it might be tough on me.

I think 6 or 7 pounds a day might make the Top 25, and 9 a day could get you in the Top 12. (The leaders) always catch more than you think they're going to, but for me, it's been difficult.

I'm just glad there's no points in this one.
