John Murray – Competition
Friday, March 23, 2007

I never figured out the big fish at all. I was pretty much all by myself in some areas, and now I know why I was alone.

The area I had in (Franks Tract) got muddy from the wind the other day and I moved to the north shore for awhile, which is where a lot of big bags are coming from. There were a lot of boats in there, so I left. I was a little too impatient.

I flipped a Sweet Beaver a lot, and I also dropshotted a Roboworm and threw a Senko. This is a place where you're either in an area with big ones, or you're not. I was clueless.

I had one that was about 6 pounds up on a mat today. It was the only good bite I had in 2 days, but it came off. It wouldn't have gotten me into the cut, but it would've made me feel a little better.

John Murray – Practice
Wednesday, March 21, 2007

This is a place where I either dial into good fish, or I don't. I've won four boats here, but I've also been at the very bottom catching dinks. Unfortunately, I'm not very consistent here.

I never caught anything bigger than 4 or 5 pounds in practice, but I'm not too worried about that. You're running all over looking at stuff in practice, but the tournament boils down to sitting someplace and fishing hard.

Numbers-wise, practice was good. Even though I didn't get on the type of super-fish it's going to take to win, it was enjoyable.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do (on day 1). I'll wait and see what the weather does. It's supposed to stabilize and be pretty nice.
