Elite Series angler Hank Cherry has joined the pro staff of V&M Baits, company general manager Kevin Jeane told BassFan today.
Cherry finished 30th in Elite Series Angler of the Year points in 2017 and clinched a berth in his fourth career Bassmaster Classic next March. He’ll be joined at Lake Hartwell by fellow V&M pro staffers Cliff Pace and Jacob Powroznik.
“We have Cliff and Jacob and Koby (Kreiger) on our pro staff and Hank travels and rooms with Jacob so we’ve gotten to know Hank over time,” Jeane said. “A spot came open for us and we were ready to add another pro staffer. With Hank being the caliber of fisherman that he is and you have chance to add him, you don’t pass up that opportunity.”
Cherry said he’s excited to team up with a growing company that has a history of developing angler-driven products.
“I’ve gotten a chance to view some of their baits and knew Jacob was happy with them,” he said. “I have a good relationship with Cliff and I’m looking forward to the possibility of making my own stuff with them, like a jig chunk. That’s something I’ve always wanted to go.
“We all have a common goal about moving forward in the same direction and we’re looking forward to the future, not just here in the moment.”
