Martens says he can do better

Aaron Martens has a knack for uttering phrases or going on tangents during the course of a conversation that makes some people scratch or shake their head.

It's one of his endearing personality traits, but last week during a writer's conference at Lake Eufaula, Martens, the top-ranked angler in the BassFan World Rankings, told BassFan that he still thinks he can improve upon the historic success he achieved in 2015.

That's right – Martens feels that it's possible to be better than he was during the Elite Series season that saw him finish in the Top 15 seven times and capture two wins while winning the Angler of the Year title (the third of his career) by more than 100 points.

In the embedded video below, taken from a Periscope broadcast done while on the water last Thursday morning, Martens covers a lot of topics, including his take on how exactly he could surpass the accomplishments he had this year (check out the 4:15 mark for that).

On Thursday morning, BassFan spent some time with the world's #1 angler Aaron Martens at Lake Eufaula. Here's our Periscope session in case you missed it.
