Younger Dobyns on top at Shasta

Richard Dobyns, the son of all-time Western money-earnings leader Gary Dobyns, caught a 16-02 sack on Thursday to snatch the early lead at the Lake Shasta Western FLW Costa Series. He had a 1-ounce edge of over Miles Howe, with the remainder of the 125-angler field more than a pound further back.

FLW reported that Dobyns employed a spinning rod for about half the day and threw various reaction baits for the other half. How stuck with a reaction bait under the rainy, windy conditions.
