Card to host H.S./college tournament

Brandon Card, the first angler to advance from the collegiate ranks to the Bassmaster Elite Series, will conduct a tournament for high school and college anglers on Nov. 5 at Norris Lake in Tennessee.

"College bass fishing has grown so much since I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2009, and now high school bass fishing is huge, too," Card said. "I've wanted to host a tournament to give back to the younger anglers for some time now, and with the help of my great sponsors, I'm able to finally make it happen."

The inaugural Brandon Card College & High School Bass Open will actually be two tournaments in one, as the two divisions will compete for separate trophies, payouts and prizes. The top collegiate team will receive $2,500 and the high school champions will get $1,500."

Norris, which will host an FLW Invitational this fall, is a deep, clear highland reservoir that's home to smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass.

"My favorite time to fish Norris is during the colder months, and we are hitting it perfect at the first of November," Card said. "Big smallies will be caught deep on the main lake and the largemouth will found in the shallows of all the many creeks that Norris Lake has to offer."
