Mercury ends affiliation with FLW

Mercury Marine announced today its six-year run as a sponsor of FLW tournaments will not continue in 2017. The company issued the following release around 2 p.m. EST today:

Mercury Marine has announced it will end its sponsorship of the FLW tournament angling association at the conclusion of 2016. However, Mercury will continue to provide service to Mercury-sponsored anglers on the Walmart FLW Tour, the Costa FLW Series and the Bass Fishing League.

Mercury, a major sponsor of multiple angling associations, has sponsored the FLW since 2011.

“The FLW has been a great partner and we very much appreciate the valuable opportunities they provided Mercury Marine,” said Michelle Dauchy, chief marketing officer at Mercury. “But, like all companies, we are continually looking for opportunities to strengthen awareness and consideration of the Mercury brand.

“We have enjoyed working with FLW and its team and we wish them the best in the future. They work hard to deliver fantastic events for their anglers, fans and sponsors.”
