Unique format to new Lake Murray event

A rotating hole course with limited electronics highlights some of the twists being introduced at the first Quest Pro Challenge tournament, set for Oct. 21-22 at Lake Murray.

The main event will be a two-day competition at Murray featuring 30 anglers, many of them FLW or Bassmaster Elite Series pros, competing on a pre-determined part, or zone, of the lake. The field will be reduced to the top 10 after day 1 and the finalists will compete on a different zone during the final day with a hole course and limited electronic usage.

Among the pro anglers committed to participate are Bryan Thrift, Anthony Gagliardi, Brandon Cobb, Shane Lehew, Brett Preuett, Jayme Rampey, Rick Morris, Shane Lineberger, Ryan Davidson and Marty Robinson, among others.

The event is the brainchild of Tim Harmon and Brad Burdette, both of Lexington, S.C. Harmon is the owner of Treeshaker Tackle while Burdette owns Palm Coast Outdoors, LLC and is the North American director of Cinnetic Fishing.

Amateur anglers will have a chance to qualify to compete against the group of pros through the Quest Solo Qualifier on Oct. 16 at Lake Murray. The top two finishers will earn a spot in the 30-boat field for the two-day finale. The entry fee for the qualifier is $100 and the registration deadline is Oct. 9.

In addition, Oct. 23 will feature a pro/am big bass challenge that will pair pro anglers with local first responders in an event that will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A family-friendly festival is also planned for the Lexington County Baseball Stadium that day and a free concert that evening featuring LOCASH, Grainger Smith and Eric Paslay will cap off the event.
