Newly-crowned Bassmaster Elite Series Angler of the Year Gerald Swindle will spend the weekend in an Alabama hospital, according to a report on Bassmaster.com today, after multiple surgeries were needed to counter the after effects of a procedure he had done last week to repair a torn meniscus and ligament in his right knee.
During the season, Swindle twice had fluid drained from his knee and opted to wait until the season was over to have surgery. After the procedure on Tuesday, Swindle's leg swelled and grew cold to the touch, prompting doctors to bring him back to examine him further. He underwent an emergency surgery Tuesday night to relieve the pressure and another procedure Thursday to close the surgical site.
