Pure Fishing spared as part of Newell's divestment plan

The brands that operate under the Pure Fishing flag – Abu Garcia, Berkley, Pflueger, Penn to name a few – will continue to be part of the Newell Brands family after Newell announced last week it planned to sell off roughly 10 percent of its portfolio following its massive $15.4 billion acquisition of Jarden Corporation earlier this year.

Newell instead has opted to put up for sale its tool businesses (Irwin, Lenox) and winter sports brands (Volkl and K2), among others, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Newell also announced it will consolidate its existing 32 business units to 16 divisions. Pure Fishing will be included in the new Outdoor & Recreation division.
