Vets Day tribute: How fishing helped wounded MP

The short video embedded below comes from kayak manufacturer Wilderness Systems, a long-time supporter of the nonprofit organization Heroes on the Water. It tells the story of Jason Austin, a 19-year military policeman who was injured in an explosion when his car hit several IEDs on the job.

On top of the serious physical injuries Austin faced from the accident, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A phone call inviting him to go kayak fishing forever changed his life – he was able to leave his troubles on shore and gain his freedom back through nature.
