FLW officials canceled day 2 of competition at the Lake Erie Northern FLW Series this morning due to high winds.
A small craft advisory was in effect until 11 a.m. EST for the stretch of Lake Erie between Ripley, near the Pennsylvania-New York border, and Buffalo, N.Y., where the tournament is based. Persistent southwest winds that kicked up Thursday afternoon continued through the night, creating conditions with consistent 3- to 5-foot waves.
According to a report on the FLW website, tournament officials are hoping to finish the event Saturday with the full 169-boat field back on the water. The forecast for Saturday is calling for winds out of the west to build through the day.
If the tournament does resume, Canadian Neil Farlow will be the man to catch after he hauled 24-04 to the scales Thursday, leading a group of 44 stringers that exceeded 20 pounds.
