Jones Jr. partners with fishing app

Alton Jones, Jr. has announced that fishing app BassForecast will serve as his title sponsor for the 2019 MLF Bass Po Tour season and 2019 Bassmaster Classic. Jones, 27, is the youngest competitor in the Bass Pro Tour field and is coming off two successful seasons on the Bassmaster Elite Series.

“In putting together my game plan, like all bass anglers, I watch the weather – past, current and forecast," Jones said. "BassForecast pulls it all together to give me an idea of what I am really trying to figure out – the mood of the fish, which is a big factor in choosing locations and baits to use. BassForecast is so simple, fast and easy to use. They are exciting company that is doing things other forecasting and solunar companies serving our industry said would be too expensive and time consuming to pull off.”

BassForecast co-founder Mike Mehlmann is an avid bass fisherman and self-proclaimed “bass science geek” added, “When I met Alton Jones Jr., I quickly realized why he accomplished so much so quickly. He is true student of the game that knows how to adapt and thrive, much like the bass fishing legends who have enjoyed longevity in the industry. And, he is such a sincere, relaxed and fun loving person. We are proud to be partnered with him.”

BassForecast is a mobile app custom designed for bass anglers to forecast bass feeding behavior. Unlike other freshwater/multi-species fishing forecast apps, BassForecast is a specialized specie-specific software tool that targets only bass. In 2018, BassForecast achieved a #51 ranking out of more than 50,000 sports apps listed on the App Store.

"We have been 100 percent focused on engineering our software for bass," Mehlmann said. "It took our team a lot more time than expected, but it has been worth it. Last year, hundreds of customers wrote in to tell us that they caught their (personal best) fishing on an Epic alert day, and that they would not have gone had they not received an alert from us 10 days prior. My favorite stories come from time strapped anglers that have been able to help their children catch more by identifying best odds days. Children remember these bonding experiences and talk about them for life.”
