Yamamoto sold to GSM Outdoors

GSM Outdoors, the parent company of numerous brands in the hunting and shooting sector, has made its first foray into the fishing industry with the purchase of Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits.

Reached via phone by BassFan today, Yamamoto said he'll continue to be involved with the promotion of the company's products, which include the iconic Senko soft stickbait.

"They're going to be able to take the company to places that I couldn't," he said.

Yamamoto products will continue to be manufactured at the plant in Page, Ariz.

"We've been working on this for a number of months now and this will enable us to move the company forward and expand, so I'm pretty excited about it," said Yamamoto president Ron Colby. "They're looking to make a big splash in the fishing market. I've known Zach Henderson (GSM's VP of sales) and some of those guys for quite a while now and I use a lot of their products. This is a new adventure and they've got a lot of big plans for us."

GSM's current holdings include Walker's Game Ear, Birchwood Casey and knife manufacturer Cold Steel, among others.
