Despino bans FFS for benefit tournament

Despino bans FFS for benefit tournament

Randy Despino, who's fished MLF Invitationals and the MLF Pro Circuit for the past 5 years, relies on the benefits of forward-facing sonar in high-level competition. However, he's banned the use of the technology for his annual benefit tournament at Toledo Bend Reservoir that raises funds for the Children's Miracle Network. The Despino's Tire Service Fishing For Kids team tournament will take place on March 9.

“I thought about it a lot and talked to plenty of people before I made the decision,” Despino told the Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches, Texas. “This is a benefit tournament, and I believe in the coming future of our tournament that it’s just best to eliminate the use of FFS. We’ve got some of the best bass anglers in the country around here. They can use it in practice all they want. But come tournament day every FFS transducer has to be unplugged.”
