Cancer claims top women's angler Martin-Wells

Pam Martin-Wells, one of the most successful female anglers in the history of the sport and a competitor in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic, has died after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Martin-Wells, a Georgia native, won numerous tournaments and Angler of the Year titles on various women's tours over several decades. She qualified for her Classic appearance by capturing the AOY on the Women's Bassmaster Tour the previous year. She'd coached the bass fishing team at Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Ga. since 2019.
