Tim Horton and Chad Morgenthaler both announced they are retiring from competitive bass fishing. I believe unless you are rich or your sponsors foot the bill, we will see more walking away to other interests where they can actually earn a living!

  • Wallace Calloway of Toledo Bend, LA writes:

RE: Balog on guides' "property" – I feel the guide's pain. Most people don't understand the amount of time, work and gas it takes to locate bass sweet spots. I don't guide, but I have the same problem with hole-poachers. My "friends" and neighbors know I spend a lot of hours on the water and have figured out if they watch they can zero in on where I fish. Now they beat on it until the fish relocate or pass it on to their friends. I feel like the old prospector who digs for years to find the gold strike, only to have others come in and pick up the nuggets.

RE: Cunningham's All-American win – Co-Angler etiquette is to never tell your day-2 guy what you did on day 1. Good on his co for keeping silent but that is what is supposed to happen.

  • Bruce Johnson of Lakewood, OH writes:

RE: Balog on guides' "property" – I won't even go to spots that I fish with my tournament partner if by chance I fish with someone else due to a conflict of dates.

  • Mark Price of Nashville, TN writes:

RE: Balog on guides' "property" – I understand the guides' plight but unfortunately you can’t claim intellectual property on a public domain, only on the technique and specific verbal knowledge shared.

  • John A. Argese of Greer, SC writes:

RE: Balog on bypassing Knockout Round – You make some valid points, but a bird in the hand, my friend, is a bird in the hand!

  • Chad Hill of Du Quoin, IL writes:

RE: Fishing participation report: I am glad so many enjoy fishing, but participation at that pace is unsustainable. Many states do not fund the management of their fisheries to the level needed to support that level of fishing participation.
