Sales of spray-on scents have waned in recent years, and to us it seems like that's for three reasons: 1) They aren't advertised much anymore; 2) They can be messy; and 3) Spraying scent on after every 2-3 casts is a pain in the neck.
But scents still work and the pros still use them. So luckily for BassFans, there's now a better way.
ExtraEdge Fishing Products, a new Ohio company, is manufacturing high-quality sinkers that actually trap and slowly release scent. These "Scent Sinkers" do this via a hollowed-out felt core. Just spray the scent into the core (before or after rigging) and you're ready to go. The scent lasts up to 50 times longer than merely spraying it on a bait.
Even better:
> The sinkers are brass, which makes them environmentally friendly
> Unlike all other brass sinkers, which have a large hole, ExtraEdge Scent Sinkers have a hole the same diameter as lead sinkers, which allows for easy pegging
> ExtraEdge also makes pre-packaged Carolina rigs and a full line of Carolina rig accessories
> The black sinkers are electroplated, meaning the black won't chip off
If it sounds like these products were designed by a fisherman, they were. ExtraEdge president Mark Schneider owns a successful tool company and is a diehard weekend tournament angler. He says he got tired of "wasting time squirting juice on a plastic bait," and now all BassFans can benefit from his answer to that problem.
