Do you really need a reason to buy Lake Fork Tackle's Mega-Weight Jig?
If so, then you might not know the reason already. Here it is: Like the Mega- Weight that Lake Fork Tackle has become famous for, the Mega-Weight Jig's head is made of tungsten. Tungsten is more dense than lead, which means a smaller jighead size vs. lead, and this has several advantages:
> It slips through cover better, and therefore...
> A lighter jig can be used to get through cover
> It can result in better hooksets
Re: the latter, Lake Fork owner and professional angler Mark Pack says that "with tungsten, the head is half the size of a lead jig. So when you set the hook the lips don't open as wide, and instead of skin-hooking a fish close to the lip where it can get off, usually every bass has the hook buried in the roof of its mouth."
Other aids to more successful hooksets built into the jig are: an Owner Big- Bite hook, a medium weedguard, and the fact that "the point of the hook is a lot closer to the eye than any other jig," Pack says. "That means it will penetrate a lot quicker."
Are the pros using this jig? You bet. BassFans should give it a try too.
