How many pounds of soft-plastic baits do you carry in your boat? Probably more than you can bench-press. As we all know, the reason you need so much is because soft-plastics break. Most good soft-plastic baits last for one fish, if that.

But Terminator is turning the soft-plastic bait world upside down. Its new SnapBack "Super Plastics" are pretty much what you've always wanted in a soft- plastic lure: it would take two buffalo running in opposite directions to break one, and they're soft.

The obvious and not-so-obvious benefits to you are:

  • You don't go through near as much product. That means it's cheaper (SnapBack baits cost about the same as other soft- plastics) and you're more efficient on the water. Forget digging through a mound of 6-8 bags of each size and color. With SnapBack Super Plastics, you just need one bag of each.
  • SnapBack baits are almost self-healing. Typically when you run a hookpoint through a bait, it creates a hole which widens and eventually makes the bait useless. SnapBacks are made from a material called Cyber-Flexxx, and when you push a hook through it the hole almost disappears. That also means the bait stays rigged tighter to the hook -- it doesn't slide and move as much. Finally, even with these properties, hook penetration is no problem.
  • They float. So when fished with a Carolina rig, instead of your lizard dragging across the lake bottom, a SnapBack lizard suspends off the bottom. Texas-rigged baits likewise stand up in a defensive position. Not only does that mean better action, you probably get better hooksets because the hook is in a better position when a fish grabs it.
  • All SnapBack baits have a built-in rattle pocket. Use it for a rattle, extra scent (SnapBacks have scent already incorporated into the plastic) or even a small weight to make a bait sink slowly or suspend. This has the added benefit of tearing the bait up even less.
A Few More Tidbits

> In testing, one angler caught 42 bass on one SnapBack soft jerkbait. Holy cow.

> Right now Terminator offers 6 baits and 16 total colors: a 6-inch lizard, a 7- inch worm with a wide sickle-type tail, a 10-inch ribbon-tail worm, a 4-inch tube, a soft jerkbait, and Skeet's creature bait. More bait types and colors will be available soon. Terminator wanted to cover the basics first.

In conclusion, ordinary soft-plastics have just been terminated.
