Have you ever heard of Gambler "Goop"? If not, you will very soon. Goop is the rubberized substance inside the core of Gamler's new Florida rig worm weight. Resilient, pliable and durable, Goop allows the angler to peg the sinker without tearing up the line or plastic bait. No more ripped plastics, no more toothpicks and rubber bands – just a great weight that stays in place.

If you were a fan of the old screw-in Gambler Florida Rigs, this new Florida Rig is a ton better. It comes in numerous sizes including 1/16-, 1/8-, 3/16-, 1/4-, 5/16- and 3/8-ounce, with other sizes to follow soon. They retail for around $3.00 and most are sold four to a pack.

"We'd been working on this new product even when the screw-in weight was available, and with the new Durocoat paint, we feel it's the best pegging sinker on the market," said Gambler owner Val Osinski, a lifelong bass angler. "So far this weight has been an excellent seller and we still have a few more tricks up our sleeve for innovation in the future with this weight."

Some of the BassFan staffers have fished this new weight at length and our experience tells us that it's much better than the old Florida rig. We found we could utilize a single bait much longer, and across more fish. Plus, the center core is basically indestructible. We utilized the rigging tool provided in each package and actually tried to tear the Goop by picking it and pulling it out, with zero success.

The Goop adheres to the metal, which makes it virtually evergreen. You can't wear it out. We used the weights repetitively and lost them long before one ever wore out.

Included with each pack of Florida rig weights is a line puller that threads through the core of the weight. This allows you to pull the line back through to tie the hook, then slip the weight down on the worm for a Texas rig or slide it up a couple of feet and you have an instant Carolina rig, even with lighter weights.

Gambler continues to innovate -- like with its Rat'lin Weight, Ugly Otter and Flapp'n Shad -- but we feel Goop is the best innovation to date. Flipping and pitching has become a mainstay in today's power-fishing suite, and this new weight is perfect for those techniques.
