After the FLW Tour event at the Atchafalaya Basin (2 FLW events and 3 B.A.S.S. events down), here's what the BassFan.com Rookie of the Year Race looks like:
> Due to his three strong finishes, B.A.S.S. rookie Terry Scroggins (Florida) still leads the standings, even over the two-tour rookies who now have fished 5 events.
> Fellow B.A.S.S. rookie Jeff Reynolds (Oklahoma) remains in 2nd.
> On the strength of his 3rd-place finish at Atchafalaya, Pennsylvania two-tour rookie Dave Lefebre jumps from 20th into 3rd in the points.
> Two-tour rookie Morizo Shimizu of Japan rises 11 places into 5th.
> Oklahoma's Tim Carroll, another two-tour rookie, climbs into 10th from 18th.
> Trussville, Ala.'s Matt Herren is the best FLW-only rookie so far, and is now in 14th.
Again, in the event that some B.A.S.S. rookies make the first and second field cuts, BassFan.com Rookie of the Year Race points will be reweighted to reflect that B.A.S.S. rookies have 10 events' worth of points whereas FLW rookies only have 6. Championship points are not counted.
