Jared Lintner of Arroyo Grande, Calif. is emerging as a likely candidate to win the BassFan Rookie of the Year (ROY) Award, which crowns the best rookie in all of tour/series-level bass fishing.
His 20th-place finish at the Potomac River Bassmaster Elite Series event last week was his third 20-and-change-level finish in a row, and it extends his ROY points lead to almost 10, up from 3 points in the previous edition of the BassFan ROY Race standings.
Former ROY Race leader, Bill Lowen of Cincinnati, Ohio, had his second 70th-plus-place finish at the Potomac, but remains 2nd in the race. Oklahoma's Brad Hallman also had a tough time at the Potomac, but hangs onto 3rd.
An 11th-place finish by Jeremy Starks of Charleston, W.Va. punches him up to 4th in the race, less than a point behind Hallman.
Elite Series rookies have one more event that counts toward the BassFan ROY Race: at Table Rock, Mo. in mid-September. The only other events that will count toward the ROY Race are the two remaining FLW Series events, in October and November.
