After the last three tour events -- the California Delta and Clear Lake BASSMASTERs, and the Beaver FLW -- FLW rookie Matt Herren of Trussville, Ala. still leads the BassFan.com Rookie of the Year Race, and has widened his points lead over Oklahoma B.A.S.S. rookie Jeff Reynolds. Also, California rookie Mike Reynolds is now just 0.25 points behind the other Reynolds (no relation).
Though the season is over for some B.A.S.S. rookies, the two Reynoldses will be fishing the last two events of that tour. Likewise, FLW rookies still have two events to fish.
Note: Similar to the State Farm-BassFan.com World Rankings, the BassFan.com Rookie of the Year Race formula basically uses an average with bonuses for winning and placing in the Top 20. So fishing more events (for example, making the B.A.S.S. field cuts or fishing two tours) only means that a pro has more chances to move up or down in the standings.
Rookie trivia:
> Two-tour Pennsylvania rookie Dave Lefebre has more Top 20 finishes this year (3) than any other rookie.
> So far Florida B.A.S.S. rookie Terry Scroggins still is the only rookie to win a tournament this year.
> B.A.S.S. pro Mark Kile is not part of the BassFan.com Rookie of the Year Race because he had fished an FLW Tour event before this year.
