Weighfish, a new website that allows tournament directors to record and display the results of their fishing tournaments, went live recently. The site is directed toward bass clubs, working man’s tournaments, charity events, open tournaments and high school/college events.
Any size tournament is welcomed. Tournament directors create their tournament pages with results, stories and pictures taken at the weigh-in. Individual, team, pro-am and multi-day tournaments are all covered.
“The idea for Weighfish started from seeing that most bass club websites just display screenshots of their tournament results, if even that. There’s no ability for users to compare results across tournaments,” said Daren Scott, Weighfish developer. “Also, Internet forums often advertise little local open tournaments, but the results of those never get recorded in a clean format, especially not one visible to fishermen browsing online. Our goal is to give tournament directors of these events a simple interface to publicize their tournament.”
Weighfish was designed with bass fishing tournaments in mind, but crappie, catfish and even saltwater tournaments that follow a similar format can take advantage of the site.
“There are plans for additional functionality in the near future – it’s going to be a continually updated project.” Scott added. “There are many possibilities for stats and charts tracking angler performance season to season, and some larger ideas to come.”
