Yamamoto, Morris, KVD make "Influencers" list

In its December 2017/January 2018 issue, Outdoor Life has a feature story about 19 individuals who have had made a lasting impact on the outdoors industry. The list spans the outdoor enthusiast space, from hunting and shooting to fishing.

Among the 19 people listed, three are well known to BassFans.

Gary Yamamoto, the founder of Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits and its ubiquitous Senko, checked in at No. 8. According to the article, the Senko has been duplicated by at least 54 other manufacturers, yet the Yamamoto version remains the best-selling soft-plastic bait on the planet.

Johnny Morris, the founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, made the list at No. 11, thanks to his outdoor retail and boat building empire along with Bass Pro Shops' conservation efforts.

Seven-time Bassmaster Angler of the Year and four-time Bassmaster Classic champion Kevin VanDam is 17th on the list. The Michigan native, who recently turned 50, hasn't shown any signs of slowing down on the water and products carrying his initials are among the top-sellers in the industry.
