The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources published a press release this week detailing the threat that Asian carp pose to Tennessee River fisheries. Silver carp (the species that can be seen jumping wildly in many YouTube videos) have been found in increasing numbers in Pickwick Lake and it could be only a matter of time until they make their way throughout the system. Silver carp feed at the bottom of the food chain and their consumption adversely affects every other species in a body of water.
