Numerous children of FLW staff members attend Marshall County High School in Benton, Ky., the site of the organizations' headquarters, but none were injured in Tuesday's shooting on the campus that left two people dead and 18 others wounded.
Joe Opager, FLW's director of public relations, said some staffers learned of the shooting while en route to Florida for this week's FLW Tour opener at Lake Okeechobee. Others were already in Florida and monitored the situation from there.
"It was a pretty scary time for a lot of our people," Opager said.
A 15-year-old boy, who was armed with a handgun, is facing murder charges. The two victims who died were students, also age 15.
