ZPI enters U.S. fray with Martens, Connell

ZPI, Inc., a Japanese maker of high-end, tuning parts for fishing reels has announced it will be sponsoring Elite Series anglers Aaron Martens and Dustin Connell.

Based in Suzuka City, a hotbed for motorsports in Japan, ZPI is well versed in the relationship between high-performance equipment and its users.

“We work hard to make it easier for anglers to control reels as they imagine,” said Tsuyoshi Kato, CEO of ZPI.

ZPI’s development of tuning parts using racing technology has helped anglers in Japan win a number of major tournaments. Last year, Brandon Palaniuk used ZPI parts on his reels en route to capturing the Elite Series Angler of the Year title.

For Martens, a three-time Elite Series AOY, this won’t be his first exposure to ZPI’s technology. He’s used the company’s F-Zero reel lubricant for a few years and was impressed by it.

“It was the best reel lubricant I have ever used,” Martens said. “I sent (my wife) on a mission to find more for me. Since then, I have used the F-Zero oil in all my reels. I have added several other ZPI products to my reels as well. ZPI products can make any reel better and not just by a little. I am excited to share knowledge of their products with anglers who want to get the most out of their equipment in terms of product life and improved performance.”
