Santa headed to Long Beach, Calif.

After Christmas, Santa will no doubt be exhausted from delivering presents to people all over the world with only one thing on his mind – fishing! On Dec. 27, Santa will head to Long Beach, California to do just that courtesy of Berkley, and he is not coming empty-handed.

Santa’s sleigh will touch down in Long Beach, where he will spend some much-needed time on the water, unwinding and fishing after Christmas. But before he goes fishing, with help from his friends at Berkley, he will be giving away a lot of fishy presents to the local community. Not only is Berkley helping the jolly old fella find a place to fish and donating fishing gear, but it's also presenting a big check to Partners of Parks to help with facilitating the renovations.

The town of Long Beach has steered its conservation efforts toward El Dorado Regional Park, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year and desperately in need of improvements. With the donation from Santa and Berkley, these improvements will now be possible. The project includes improved youth programs including an annual youth fishing derby, improvements to the 500-person capacity campground used by scouts and youth groups fishing the lakes, as well as education for the community and new trash cans and fishing-line disposal bins.

Trinka Rowsell, Executive Director for Partners of Parks, said, “We are so excited to have Santa visit Long Beach and fish in our lake at El Dorado East Regional Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to educate our community and the nation about urban fishing opportunities in Long Beach and we look forward to educating park-goers about responsible fishing habits and conservation efforts.”
