Duckett must sit out 10 minutes of first round

Boyd Duckett will incur a 10-minute penalty Wednesday to start Group B's initial qualifying day at the Bass Pro Tour event at Lake Guntersville. Duckett, who lives on Guntersville, was penalized for being on the water during the off-limits period while crappie fishing.

Duckett, who's also Major League Fishing's president and CEO, admitted in a call to BassFan that a rule change instituted prior to this season had escaped him. He said that previously, BPT anglers could be on a venue during the 30-day off-limits as long as they weren't "attempting to locate or catch bass." The revised rule prohibits any time on the water during that period.

Duckett is 80th (last) in this year's points standings with three finishes in the 70s.
