B.A.S.S. mourns death of WKU competitor

COLUMBIA, S.C. – B.A.S.S. confirmed that one of the anglers involved in a boat accident last week during practice for a Bassmaster College Series event at Lake Murray has died.

Johnathan Brian of Western Kentucky University was the angler who was killed. Two of the three other competitors involved required hospitalization, but have been released.

“We are all heartbroken to learn the news of Johnathan’s tragic death,” said B.A.S.S. CEO Chase Anderson.

B.A.S.S. will continue to support the ongoing investigation into the incident.

“Our hearts go out to Johnathan’s family, friends, and college fishing community,” Anderson said, “and we continue to offer our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to Johnathan’s family and loved ones while respecting their privacy during this painful time.”
