Livewell and baitwell products have been on the market for years, but recently we found one that's completely different and way better. Unlike many livewell additives, BassMedics' Rejuvenade doesn't sedate the fish, but rather gives them energy, reestablishes their protective slime layer and also removes chlorine from your livewell.
"Since our product only utilizes food-grade supplements, the fish are actually invigorated vs. sedated," said co-owner Joey Couvillion. "We don't have any regulated products in our blend."
To explain: Most livewell products sedate the fish and thus slow respiration (breathing). So when the fish are released, they swim away slowly and need recovery time. But because Rejuvenade contains no regulated products, only food-grade supplements, fish are actually revitalized.
Does it work? In our tests, livewell-kept bass soaked in this product are ready to practically bite your hand off when you open the lid. Seriously, though – our impression was that many times Rejuvenade fish actually seemed healthier leaving the well than before they were caught. In other words, they were ready to feed right out of the box, and this alone makes us excited about the product.
With just small amounts of the product (one capful per 20 gallons of water) and very little time in the well, you'll see results. A few minutes, and the fish swim away ready for the next meal.
Brad Yates, owner of Goosepond Marina in Scottsboro, Ala. said: "I've seen it all. Every day I have new spinnerbaits, crankbaits and gadgets brought to me. When I got my first batch of Rejuvenade I was skeptical, thinking it was just another product reinventing the wheel. But that was short-lived.
"I passed out thousands of samples, and when we discontinued the samples our customers bought the product in the large bottles. That proves it really works."
He added: "Don't use too much of it or the bass will eat their way out of the livewell (laughs). But seriously, there's no question it's the best product of its kind on the market."
That's why, as Couvillion noted, Rejuvenade is "in just about every tournament organization in the country. There's no question our product is making a difference."
Beyond just helping fish be healthier, it also has another key benefit for tournament anglers. "One of the best parts of our formula is that it reduces water weight loss in the fish," he noted. "When ounces separate 1st and 2nd, many times this can be key."

Courtesy of BassMedics, here are some livewell tips that will help you keep your bass alive.
1) Aerate continually during warm weather. Water temperatures over 65 degrees are generally when more aeration is needed. The more fish in the livewell, and the length of time they are in it, adds to the need for more aeration.
2) Try to keep the water as cool as possible. Livewell temperature should be 8-10 degrees below surface temperature. Contained ice blocks or BassMedics' Catch-N-Cool should be used for prolonged temperature maintenance. Adding ice directly to the well may add too much chlorine and water treatment chemicals that could be harmful to the fish.
3) Always handle fish with wet hands, and when bumping fish make sure the bump board is wet as well. Bass should never be laid on carpet, floor material or abrasive surfaces as removal of or damage to their protective slime coat can occur.
4) Utilize livewell water instead of lake water in your weigh bags. Water taken from the lake can have harmful petroleum waste or temperature changes that can kill your fish in the weigh-in line.
Using BassMedics Rejuvenade will help ensure that our most precious resource – the fish – get the best-possible treatment during a tournament.
