Bassmaster Tour rookies jumped into the BassFan Rookie of the Year Race last week at Florida's Lake Toho, and Pennsylvania's Dave Wolak finished the best of all of the true rookies in the field, in 24th. But that's not enough to displace Florida FLW Tour rookie Bobby Lane, who remains in the lead by 8 points.
Three more Bassmaster Tour rookies took over the 3rd- through 5th-place spots. Former Federation champ Thad Takes is the next of the BASS rookies in the ROY standings, in 11th.
Notes:
> Again, the BassFan ROY Race only counts "true rookies," meaning anglers who have never fished the boater side of a tour-level event before. This means that the following anglers new to the Bassmaster Tour this year do not qualify for BassFan ROY consideration:
- Andre Moore -- Fishes the FLW Tour.
- Connecticut's Chris Bielert -- Fished one FLW Tour event in 1998.
- David Cooke, Mooresville, NC -- Has been an FLW Tour pro since 2000.
- David Gliebe, Stockton, CA -- fished 1989 and 990 Megabucks.
- Fred Roumbanis, Auburn, CA -- Fished the FLW Tour last year.
- Bradley Stringer, Huntington, TX -- Fished half the FLW Tour season in 2000.
> This is the first year in the four years the BassFan ROY Race has existed that no true rookies are fishing both tours.
(PLEASE NOTE: Richard Bennett of Roseville, Calif. was incorrectly listed as an FLW Tour rookie this year. He is the same person as RJ Bennett, who was a Bassmaster Tour rookie in 2004. He has been removed from the 2005 ROY standings, and the remaining rookies have been re-sorted accordingly. Any discrepancy between the text above and the standings below is due to this re-sorting.)
